The San Francisco 49ers host the Houston Texans in Week 5 on Sunday Night Football, looking to climb back over the .500 mark. The 49ers got a solid win last week against the St. Louis Rams to improve to 2-2. The Texans are coming off a brutal loss to the Seahawks in which they blew a 20-3 lead. They now also sit at 2-2, and like the 49ers, are trying to avoid falling too far back of the top of the division.

The 49ers are coming off nine days off since their Thursday Night Football. They have been rather banged up, so the extra rest will hopefully have done them some good. The 49ers have not exactly come flying out of the gates this season, so we'll see if the rest gets them going a little earlier.

This will be your first quarter game thread, and we'll be back with a new thread each quarter.
