Ray Mcdonald suffers biceps injury, out for rest of Sunday Night Football

Ray McDonald suffered a biceps injury and departed the 49ers-Texans game. We take a look at the implications.

The San Francisco 49ers will be without defensive end Ray McDonald for the rest of the gameNinersNation/lists/niners-media, as he has suffered a biceps injury. The injury took place on his sack of Matt Schaub midway through the third quarter. He gave Schaub a tap to get the sack credit but something was clearly amiss. McDonald was looked over by trainers and quickly departed for the locker room. The 49ers PR department then declared him OUT.

With his departure, the 49ers will look to Demarcus Dobbs and Tony Jerod-Eddie to fill in on the defensive line. The 49ers base 3-4 normally features McDonald at left defensive end, Glenn Dorsey at nose tackle and Justin Smith at right defensive end. With McDonald's departure, Jerod-Eddie was getting work on the first series. I imagine Dobbs will likely get some work as well. Jerod-Eddie also operates as the backup nose tackle.

The 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday, so we'll have to wait and see what the coming week of practice brings. Coach Harbaugh will surely get some questions on McDonald's status after the game and then during his Monday press conference.
