The 49ers are dealing with numerous injuries, which means everybody wants to know when players can come off the PUP list and NFI list. We don't have a lot of new information, but there is some pertinent information to consider. First off, here are the players on each list:
PUP List
Michael Crabtree
Mario Manningham
NFI List
Tank Carradine
Quinton Dial
Marcus Lattimore
Luke Marquardt
Aldon Smith
Eric Wright
The players are eligible to return to the practice field as soon as next week. The players are allowed to wait up to five weeks to start practicing. Once a player does start practicing, the team then has three weeks to add him back to the 53-man roster.
Jim Harbaugh met with the media on Monday, and he had a chance to discuss the various players on these lists. According to Harbaugh, Manningham, Carradine, Dial and Wright are all on pace to start practicing next week. Harbaugh said he expected both Carradine and Dial to make a contribution this year. He said that Dial is up near 350 pounds and could play nose tackle, or shade the outside of the center or guards.
Matt Maiocco had this bit of speculation earlier today:
RT @Breeahhknee manningham due to come back next game? > You can probably expect 49ers on PUP/NFI to begin returning after the bye week.

After this week, the 49ers travel to Tennessee and then face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Given that the Titans game is the same week these guys would be back practicing, and the fact that the bye week is only two weeks later, it makes sense to try and wait it out for the maximum three weeks. You can then get to the bye week and spend some time really working them into the game plan.
