The Atlanta Falcons nightmare season continues to get worse, as news is circulating that Julio Jones is done for the season with a foot injury. Jay Glazer was the first to report the news, indicating the team was going to get a second opinion, but that they were not optimistic. The Falcons have announced a press conference for 2:30 p.m., where they will address the injury.
If Jones is done for the year, the Falcons season goes from bad to worse. Roddy White has been banged up all season, stubbornly sticking to his consecutive games played streak. Steven Jackson is still banged up. The team is sitting at 1-4, already four games back of the New Orleans Saints. It's pretty disastrous.
We don't know what the Falcons plan on doing with this season, and you have to wonder whether or not Josh Gordon is officially in play. He is relatively inexpensive, and if the Falcons think they can turn this season around, it would make a lot of sense to try and get Gordon. The trade deadline is fast approaching, so if anything is going to happen, it will be soon.
This could make things interesting for the 49ers Week 16 matchup with the Falcons. The Falcons do still have solid talent on the roster, but losing Jones is a huge blow. The Falcons have time to turn things around, but it remains to be seen if they'll actually accomplish that. Right now, everything that could go wrong seems to be going wrong.
