49ers vs. Saints injury report: Garrett Celek, Quinton Patton, Ray McDonald sit out Thursday practice

The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints released their Thursday injury reports, and we have some modest changes, but not a lot. 49ers defensive tackle Justin Smith went from a Wednesday DNP to Limited on Thursday. Saints DT Akiem Hicks and LB Curtis Lofton also moved from DNP to Limited.

The most notable news remains that Garrett Celek and Ray McDonald both sat out practice, while Vernon Davis and Eric Reid both got in limited work. As it currently stands, both Reid and Davis seem on track to play Sunday, but the concussion protocol is not yet complete. Whatever their status on Friday's "final" injury report, their actual status for the game won't be known until into the weekend if they remain symptom-free.

Celek and McDonald remain significant question marks. If McDonald can't play, the 49ers have the players on their roster to cover for him. If Celek can't play, Derek Carrier is the likely candidate for promotion from the practice squad. The 49ers have to make that roster move by Saturday afternoon.

On the Saints side of things, Kenny Vaccaro remains out of practice with his concussion. He is still hoping to play on Sunday, but if he does not get back to practice soon, odds would seem long.

Full participation in practice: CB Tarell Brown (knee), DT Quinton Dial (ankle), RB Frank Gore (ankle), G Mike Iupati (knee), P Andy Lee (neck)

Did not participate in practice: S Kenny Vaccaro (concussion), TE Benjamin Watson (concussion)

Limited participation in practice: TE Jimmy Graham (elbow/foot), DT Akiem Hicks (back), DE Cameron Jordan (ankle), LB Curtis Lofton (hamstring/ankle)

Full participation in practice: S Roman Harper (knee), S Malcolm Jenkins(hamstring), DE Tyrunn Walker (knee)
