NFL Pro Bowl balloting results: Joe Staley, Eric Reid, Andy Lee among early leaders

The NFL released early Pro Bowl balloting results. We break down the numbers.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

NFL Pro Bowl balloting is underway, running until December 26, but we have some early results for you. Through today, the 49ers have some representation in the balloting! Offensive tackle Joe Staley, free safety Eric Reid and punter Andy Lee all rank second at their respective position across league-wide voting.

It is worth noting that for the first time, voting is not split up by conference. Instead, I believe the top two vote getters will pick their respective team from the players selected. Voting is split up one-third fan vote, one-third player vote, one-third coach vote.

Staley is currently second at offensive tackle behind Brandon Albert of the Chiefs. Reid is second at free safety to Earl Thomas of the Seahawks. Lee is second at punter to Dustin Colquitt of the Chiefs. You can continue to vote for players at NFL.com.

Ideally, the 49ers won't be able to play in the Pro Bowl given that it happens the weekend before the Super Bowl. The 49ers need to get their act together if that's going to happen, but we can still hope, right?
