The San Francisco 49ers and Washington each released their first practice participation reports for Week 12. The teams are squaring off on Monday Night Football, so everything gets bumped back a day, and the 49ers will likely depart for Washington after Saturday's practice.
Quinton Patton, Tarell Brown, Garrett Celek, Mike Iupati, Ray McDonald and Justin Smith all sat out Thursday's practice. Patton has already been declared out, while Justin Smith is just getting a rest day. Brown, Celek, Iupati and McDonald are likely all going to be out on Monday. We haven't heard new specifics on Celek or McDonald, but they likely are looking at another week of recovery.
One notable name that does not appear on the participation report is wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Although he is practicing with the team, he remains on the PUP list, so the team does not have to include him. Earlier today, there were some reports that Crabtree was not practicing. He was seen wearing sweats and working out separately. The 49ers PR department clarified that Crabtree did in fact practice after an extended warmup session.
The team has until Tuesday to activate Crabtree. There has been some discussion today about how soon it will be before he is actually seeing game action. Coach Harbaugh said it would depend on the practices, and the team would assess accordingly. We really won't know what's what until we approach a week from Sunday and the 49ers next game after Monday Night Football. I have a hunch he will be a game-time decision each week until that first activation happens.
