Golden Nuggets: Tramaine gets his contract and offense is ready to "pop"

Saturday, November 23, 2013 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Spor

When Jim Harbaugh came to the 49ers, he introduced a system of meritocracy where performance on the field was key to receiving rewards. As the coach, he rewarded his players with more snaps, more plays called for them, game balls, shoulder pad pats and helmet slaps. Well, Trent Baalke is on the same page as Harbaugh, and now the meritocracy has awarded Tramaine Brock with a multi-year contract extension.

"Tramaine is a great example of what hard work and dedication can lead to"

Trent Baalke

Brock finally got his chance this year and he has taken full advantage of it, to the tune of 4 years $16M (7M guaranteed). Congratulations to him and lets hope that he uses this and his upcoming spot start against Washington to propel his game to the next level.

'Pop' Goes the Offense

On the offensive side of the ball, Greg Roman admits to the failings of his sputtering squad and shows optimism for what is to come ahead. He's been especially supportive of QB Colin Kaepernick and keeps telling people "not to look at his stats". This would lead us to believe that, they've been working hard to correct some mistakes and we may see a few new wrinkles introduced.

"Those opportunities are out there and the roof’s going to blow off. It’s going to pop. It’s coming. We keep working like we’re working and it will come."

Greg Roman

Sounds like Greg has been shaking some soda cans in practice. Let's see if this spills out onto the playing field.
