The St. Louis Rams released their Thursday practice participation report, and running back Zac Stacy was back at practice in a limited fashion. Stacy suffered a concussion last week against the Bears, which resulted in a missed practice on Wednesday.
Sstacy is going through the concussion protocol, and this limited session on Thursday would indicate he is making the necessary progress through the protocol. He likely will not get final clearance until Saturday, and if he is without symptoms heading into Sunday, he'll get the start ahead of Benny Cunningham.
It is also worth noting that cornerback Trumaine Johnson and offensive guard Chris Williams were both limited as well. Like Stacy, they both suffered concussions and missed Wednesday's practice. The concussion protocol requires a player be asymptomatic at rest, and then asymptomatic after going through a workout. If a player shows concussion-like symptoms during the week, they are likely to miss the next week's game. In this case, all three likely have not shown concussion symptoms the last couple days. Well, at least we hope they haven't (for their own sake, not for purposes of 49ers vs. Rams).
