Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The San Francisco 49ers host the Carolina Panthers this week, and currently sit as six point favorites. The line has barely fluctuated in the six to seven point range. The Panthers are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 road games, while the 49ers are 18-7-1 against the spread over their last 26 home games.

Both the 49ers and Panthers are playing some strong football right now. The 49ers have won five straight, while the Panthers have won four straight, and both are winning by substantial margins. Neither has faced the greatest of opponents, although I think the 49ers win over Tennessee gets the most cred from all these wins.

Both teams have plenty to gain and plenty to lose from this game. I think the 49ers have more to lose given they are at home and brining back a lot of weapons on both sides of the ball. That being said, this is a game the 49ers should be able to cover. I'm not expecting a blow-out by any means, but a rested 49ers offense and defense is better than the Panthers. This is the best team the 49ers have faced since Week 3, so this is no gimme. It will be an interesting matchup of a strong Panthers front seven against the 49ers run game. The 49ers like to impose their will on other teams, and if they can do that against this Panthers team, it will raise my hopes moving forward.

We're back with another set of picks with my boy James from Cover32.com/Raiders. I'm on a modest role roll, and have climbed over .500 for the first time this season. Huzzah!
