Why on Earth is Ted Ginn's name on the headline you may ask. Well, aside from him having played for the 49ers for a few years, he was one of the interviews today and there are a ton of stories about him. In case you haven't noticed, he's having a solid year as a pass catcher. We never threw him the ball…really didn't try to get him involved. Whenever he was involved it rarely worked out. I'm not laying blame anywhere. That's just the way it was. It's nice to see him succeed, even if he ran himself out of town with his mouth.

As for the other stories, well, it's basically one story and you already know it. Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham are practicing. Mario looks as though he'll be playing this Sunday against Carolina. Crabtree is still a ways away. Get excited!

Returning 49ers

Coach Harbaugh is saying what he always says…returning players will have to win their spots and everyone will have to earn their place. Competition! What else would you expect from him? | Harbaugh says players will have to "state a case" to play as the 49ers get healthy (BASG)

Wide receiver being the position of greatest need means that these two guys are going to be scrutinized harder than anyone. They've got leeway, coming back from injury. I have a feeling that if for someone reason, the passing game remains less-than-perfect, 49ers fans are going to freak out! | Crabtree, Manningham practicing together again after ‘storm of ups and downs' (Inman)

Corey Lemonier and Dan Skuta filled in admirably for Aldon Smith while he was in rehab, but there really is no replacing Aldon's production. | 49ers hope Smith helps sack numbers (ESPN)

It would appear that Eric Wright's impending debut is flying under the radar with all the other players getting healthy at once. I was excited by the trade during the offseason, confused by it's cancellation and Wright's placement on the NFI. I'm hoping he can eventually (next year) take over in the slot. | Wright could be Brock's next challenger for No. 3 CB spot (Branch)

Ted Ginn Speaks

Matt Barrows notes what we already know…the 49ers are suffering at wide receiver and in the return game. If only there were some sort of player, a hybrid receiver / return man. Where could we find one of those? | Ginn adding juice to Panthers' passing attack, return game (Barrows)

Ted Ginn talks about the two starting quarterbacks in the game. | Ginn gives insight into QBs Kaepernick, Newton(Inman)

Is Anthony Dixon really going to be returning kicks for us? I'm not necessarily against the idea if Brad Sealy thinks it's the best option.
