49ers vs. Panthers injury report: Greg Roman describes Mario Manningham as 'day-to-day'

The San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers released their Thursday practice participation reports, and there are no changes to report. Ahmad Brooks, Ray McDonald and Justin Smith all continue to be listed as limited. My guess is they will all be listed as questionable on the final injury report, but all three will play.

Mario Manningham and Tank Carradine remain off the injury report, but it's hard to figure out what exactly is going on at times. Greg Roman was asked how expected to use Manningham on Sunday, and he said:

"That remains to be seen with Mario. It's day-to-day with him and we'll see how it progresses through the week. Thought he had a good day yesterday, but it is day-to-day."

Vic Fangio was asked about whether he would get Tank Carradine into the game, and he said:

"He's progressing and getting better. He's still fighting through his injury and fighting through learning the system and playing the way we want to play. So, he's making good progress. When he'll play, if he'll play this week, we haven't decided yet."

I don't quite know how the injury reporting works for players coming off the PUP and NFI list. They've all been activated to the 53-man roster on the assumption that they are healthy. My guess is this is mostly gamesmanship, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what Sunday brings.
