The 9-4 San Francisco 49ers head on the road in Week 15 to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 49ers are coming off a 19-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks, while the Bucs won their fourth game in five weeks, beating the Buffalo Bills 27-6.
The 49ers-Bucs contest kicks off at 10 a.m. PT, showing up on FOX in your channel guide. The broadcast coverage of the game will be fairly limited given the nature of the matchup. It will be available throughout California and much of Florida, and then a few neighboring states. Check 506sports.com for the details. As always, if you don't get the game in your region, check out our sports bar thread to find 49ers fans in your area.
The 49ers are five point favorites against the Bucs, in part because Tampa is actually starting to play some good football. They haven't beaten the greatest teams in the world, with a road win in Detroit probably qualifying as the best. That's a solid win, but the rest of their wins are vs. Miami, Atlanta and Buffalo. I don't want to discredit the Bucs wins, but it will be interesting to see how they handle a stronger 49ers defense.
There are several interesting matchups to watch on Sunday. Darrelle Revis is back to form after last year's knee injury. He will likely find himself opposite either Anquan Boldin or Michael Crabtree. The 49ers will also need to figure out how to contain Gerald McCoy. The Bucs defensive tackle is having a monster of a season. He likely would line up opposite the left guard. Mike Iupati is still recovering from his knee injury, so we don't know yet whether he'll be there or if Adam Snyder will get another start.
On the offensive side of the ball, the 49ers defense needs to put the Bucs in a position where they have to get some plays from quarterback Mike Glennon. Thus far Glennon has been pretty solid, but the Bucs would prefer to get Bobby Rainey going on the ground. If the 49ers can contain Rainey, it opens the door to force the rookie QB into situations where mistakes could happen.
