49ers-Packers announcers: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman calling the game for FOX

In a decision that is not remotely surprising, FOX has assigned their No. 1 crew to the San Francisco 49ers-Green Bay Packers Wild Card matchup. That means Joe Buck will handle play-by-play duties, and Troy Aikman will handle color commentary. They will be joined by Pam Oliver and Erin Andrews on the sideline. We'll see who draws the short stick between those two and ends up on the 49ers sideline with Jim Harbaugh.

I tweeted out the announcers earlier today, and people reacted about as expected. A lot of folks cannot stand Joe Buck and/or Troy Aikman for one reason or another. Most generally assume Buck and Aikman love seeing the 49ers lose. Fans think a lot of announcers don't like their team, but it comes through particularly so with Buck and Aikman.

If you're not on Twitter (and probably even if you are), you missed out on a great run Buck had on Twitter. He hasn't been active for some time, but I still love his Twitter bio:

On the one hand, I don't think Buck hates the 49ers, or loves the Packers and hopes they beat the 49ers. I do think he is a big fan of great players and storylines, and it shows at times. When Aaron Rodgers does something incredibly, he seems to get a little bit more excited than if random player X does something incredible. That's strictly a subjective impression, but that's what I see.

It is entirely possible Troy Aikman doesn't like the 49ers, but I actually don't mind him or Buck when they announce 49ers games. Sometimes they can get annoying, but few announcers can be considered perfect. I think they do a good enough job when it comes to providing information and analysis. They're not perfect, but I don't feel obligated to turn them off. I like them more than the Jim Nantz, Phil Simms duo, but less than the Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston duo (Tony Siragusa, I can take or leave).
