College Football New Years Eve Bowls: Advocare, Sun, Liberty, and Chick-Fil-A Bowls

There are four bowls on the schedule today. The Advocare, Sun, Liberty, and Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Three of the game feature some top prospects.

Whether you're getting ready for a big night tonight or plan on just staying in, you have football to keep you company all day. Today's bowls do feature some big time prospects who will be selected day one of the 2014 draft.

AdvoCare V100 BOWL - Arizona vs. Boston College (9:30 A.M. PT)

This game has the makings of a fun one, if the score stays close. The match-up features two of the best running backs in the country going up against one another, Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey and Boston College's Andre Williams. Williams is the more physical runner of the two, and Carey has more speed.

Williams piled up 2,102 yards this season and 17 touchdowns. When it comes to yardage, a big day today will have him in the same ballpark as Barry Sanders epic 1988 season at Oklahoma State, when he rushed for 2,628 yards. Darey had a great year as well, rushing for 1,716 yards and 17 scores. I expect both players to be selected in the first two rounds. Darey is shaping up to be a first round pick while Williams could receive doubt such as Montee Ball did last season because he isn't a speedster. Darey has not announced whether he is coming out yet or not, but we should find out soon after the bowl is over.

Sun Bowl - Virginia Tech vs. #17 UCLA (11:00 A.M. PT)

Watch this one to check out one of the most exciting defensive players in the draft, OLB Anthony Barr. The first team All-American put together a great season with 10 sacks, five forced fumbles, and 22 tackles for a loss. Barr is a lock to be a top ten pick, probably top five.

Bruins quarterback Brett Hundley is also worth keeping an eye on. The Sophomore quarterback could be heading to the NFL if he has a really good game today.

Liberty Bowl - Rice vs. Mississippi State (1:00 P.M. PT)

This bowl may get a little sloppy. There aren't any notable prospects to report on, just enjoy the game, it's still football. 10-3 Rice may have a better record than 6-6 Mississippi State, but I'm guessing the SEC team takes this game.

Chick-Fil-A Bowl - #24 Duke vs. #21 Texas A&M (5:00 P.M. PT)

Duke may have gotten into a bowl game, but it doesn't mean they're going to have anything go right in it. I fully expect the Aggies to take it to the Blue Devils.

This could be the last game of college football for Johnny Manziel, as it appears he is heading for the NFL Draft. Although I'm not 100% sold on him at the next level, moving to the NFL is a good decision as he is losing his favorite target Mike Evans to the NFL. Manziel is an exciting player and expect him to put on one last big performance today. I question Manziel's decision making in a faster paced NFL, some of the plays where he is winging it in college could become disastrous as a pro. It's one thing to be an elusive scrambling quarterback, but it's another entity to be a smart one.

Manziel will be throwing often to receiver Mike Evans. I see a lot of Vincent Jackson and Brandon Marshall in Evans. He is a dominant big bodies receiver that has the ability to stretch the field and make tough catches. Unfortunately for the 49ers, Evans will be off the board by the time they pick in the first round.

This game should provide some big plays. And you never know, Duke could pull off the upset. I'll be watching.
