Week 14 NFL picks against the spread

We're back with another round of NFL picks against the spread, this time taking a look at Week 14. I'm making picks alongside my boy James from Cover32.com/Raiders. He continues to lead the way with a 10-6 week, while I continue to trot along toward mediocrity. It's a good time!

The San Francisco 49ers host the Seattle Seahawks this weekend, and the line is currently sitting around 49ers -3. That points toward pretty close to a toss up on a neutral field. This isn't a neutral field however, so we get to see what the Seahawks bring to the table on the road. They've been inconsistent at best on the road, and even with that monster win over the Saints, I think the oddsmakers recognize the road difficulties.

The 49ers have seen their offense step up big of late, and the offense is showing improvement. The big thing this Sunday will be figuring out how to find some consistency on offense. We saw the 49ers go to Anquan Boldin frequently against the Rams, but it will be interesting to see how the Seahawks approach Boldin and Crabtree....and of course, Vernon Davis.

Could this open the door for the run game to find new life? I think it will, and I think that will be a key to victory. If the 49ers are going to win, let alone cover, they need to control the clock and wear down the Seahawks defense. They need to keep the pass rush off Kap, and given the shakeup on the offensive line, getting the running game going will be something to track closely.

All that being said, I don't see this game ending in a blowout. I think the 49ers claim a fairly close win in a suspenseful matchup.
