This photo was tweeted out by a Seahawks fan during Sunday's game. We don't know the context for why the person got this, and it wouldn't be surprising if it's not as simple as someone just standing and not doing anything.
That being said, do we really need to tell people not to excessively stand at football games? If someone is standing up to look at a fight in the stands, or to talk trash to somebody behind them, I get how that can be annoying to other fans watching the game.
But if it's just getting up during an exciting game to cheer on your team, have we really come to this? It reminds me a little bit of the person in Marin who was complaining about the noise at Seahawks games. People sometimes get way too touchy about things that really don't need it. In this instance, we're talking about a football game that literally had me at the edge of my seat at home. If I was at the game, I guarantee you I would have spent much of the game standing up.
Football does have downtime between plays, but it's different than a sport like baseball. I get the "down in front!" notion at a baseball game. But at a football game? There are times where the flow dictates sitting and waiting for something to happen, but my problem is more with the fact that someone felt this card needed to be created. It likely means somebody (or likely multiple somebodies) complained about people standing up in front of them.
It just seems like legislating fan behavior is getting a little out of hand. If someone is being an ass toward another fan, that's one thing. And maybe this particular person was acting up. But the fact that these cards have been manufactured is kind of crazy.
