Two main topics for your perusal today at Nuggets Central. First is Ricky Jean-Francois and specifically, what the team should do with him. What about the defensive line? Do we need help? I think it's a very resounding 'yes', and this draft is full of quality d-line help. Secondly, the receiver position. Some people think we're set. Others, me included, are worried about the injuries, depth, A.J. Jenkins' abysmal rookie campaign and the lack of a No. 2 and think that, yes, we do need some help at WR. I don't care if it comes via draft or free agency, but adding another target for Colin Kaepernick's bolt thrower of an arm would make me a happy chappy.
I'm getting home late from a wedding out of town, and, truth be told, have a bit of a hangover. Had a great time, but I'm not much of a drinker so this is my first serious hangover in something like four years. Ouch. Almost five hours in a car when it's nearly 100 degrees with no A/C and a hangover makes for skinny nuggets, folks. I'll be back with a bang tomorrow. I promise.
Another entry in BASG's series on potential free agents, this time on Ricky Jean-Francois. He's too versatile to let him walk, in my opinion. BASG agrees and cites some good reasons why. He may want a shot at starting somewhere, or he may want too much money, but I think the team tries to keep him. | Should he stay or should he go: Ricky Jean-Francois (BASG)
Some notes on Jim Harbaugh's recent comments by Eric Branch. Firstly, Alex Smith will not be released. He'll be traded or holding a clipboard. At least that's what Coach is saying. A second bit from JH notes that Mario Manningham will most likely not be ready for the start of camp. I don't think he'll be ready for the start of the year, personally. | Harbaugh says Alex Smith unlikely to be released (Branch)
D-Line is one of the deepest positions in the draft. I don't know if you noticed, but that's where we need help. We should be getting a couple D-liners come April. | Defensive line depth on display (49ers.com)
Eric Branch insinuates that the team should also be looking to add help at WR. The WRs are going to be on display toady, so if you're bored and want to watch guys run... | Gentlemen, start your stop watches: WRs on display Sunday (Branch)
A second part to that same line of thought. | NFL Draft has quality deep threats (Branch)
