49ers free agents 2013: Complete list of potential UFAs via NFLPA

Although we all knew the 2012 season was ending one way or another after Sunday's game, it still is a bit of a jarring feeling. Since we won't be discussing celebrations, parades and other fun stuff like that, the time has come to start looking ahead to the important matters of March and April: free agency and the 2013 NFL Draft.

We'll have plenty of post-mortems surrounding the Super Bowl and the 2012 NFL season as a whole, but for now, I thought I'd get us started with some simple information. The NFLPA released a list of potential free agents for the coming season. The 49ers have ten such players, excluding Brandon Jacobs and Billy Cundiff, who were both waived after the conclusion of the end of the regular season. Here are your expected 2013 unrestricted free agents:

LB Larry Grant
LB Clark Haggans
DL Ricky Jean-Francois
WR Randy Moss
NT Isaac Sopoaga
TE Delanie Walker

I did some more searching, and the following two appear to be the 49ers only restricted free agents:

CB Tramaine Brock
S Darcel McBath

I have not yet found information on any exclusive rights free agents. The 49ers offseason work will cover these twelve players, plus Alex Smith's situation and any players they elect to release.

The plan will be a player-by-player breakdown of each of these guys, looking at their contributions, reasons they might leave or stay, and a final prediction. We'll go through these twelve, and then we'll also look at players that might be released to free up some cap space. This includes guys like David Akers, Jonathan Goodwin, Donte Whitner, Carlos Rogers and others. I'm not saying these guys will be cut, but they are all guys who might at least be in the conversation.

The 49ers roster is in good shape, but they do have some big decisions to make in the next couple months. We'll be here for the duration of it, so make sure and keep an eye out.
