Fooch's Note: Looks like another safety might be on the radar as well:
Lions free-agent S Louis Delmas left St. Louis and is headed to San Francisco for a visit.

The 49ers made their first signing of free agency as they landed defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey. The move adds depth to the defensive line, and puts the 49ers in position to look at some other needs moving forward the next few days.
One such position is safety. The 49ers saw Dashon Goldson leave for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he signed a five year deal. The 49ers have begun the process of looking for safety options, bringing in Charles Woodson on Wednesday, and potentially bringing in LaRon Landry on Thursday. Now, the 49ers might be going back to the safety they were first considering:
Ravens safety Ed Reed is visiting the Texans tomorrow, flying in tonite. Possible meetings with 49ers and Colts to follow

Since that tweet, Ravens beat writer Aaron Wilson followed up with the following:
Texans have made an extremely strong bid to woo Ed Reed. Whether a quick deal happens remains unclear, but they are off to a strong start

Sources emphasize that the 49ers are actually a legit contender for Ed Reed should the Texans visit not lead to a fast deal.

Reed and the 49ers were connected during the negotiation period, but that was followed by reports that it was merely a smokescreen to drum up some interest. It remains to be seen if Reed's agent is behind any of this.
It is also worth noting that the Arizona Cardinals released Kerry Rhodes. He was strong at free safety in 2012, and will turn 31 during training camp this coming year. He was released as part of a salary purge and could be a strong option for the 49ers. It is worth noting that we have had no connection made between the 49ers and Rhodes. It's just a thought for now.
Who is your safety of choice?
