It was an active day around the league. We lost one of our key defenders from our successful defense in Dashon Goldson. I had held out hope that the market would never eventuate and 'The Hawk' would return. But, as my friend's dad always said, "you can $h!t in one hand and wish in the other, and guess which hand fills up first." Ah, wishes.
In positive news, the team signed former Kansas City Chief DT Glenn Dorsey to a reported 2-year, $7 million contract. It is rumored to be incentive-laden. Dorsey was a former high draft pick who never eventuated. Baalke loves these kinds of players and in Harbaalke we trust. Donte Whitner instantly comes to mind. Whitner was a former high pick of the Bills, who flourished when he came over. A player like Dorsey will be made better by playing around an All-Pro supporting cast. It doesn't matter how many blocks a DT can eat if the rest of the team can't finish the job. Welcome.
Dashon Goldson Gone
Dashon Goldson got the payday he was after. It was never going to come from the 49ers and I think both sides have known that for a long time. Tampa Bay has swept him off of his feet with a private jet, offered $8 million per year, and so he is gone. Thank you Hawk for your time, your effort on every play, and good luck moving forward. | Dashon Goldson agrees to five-year deal with Tampa Bay (Inman)

Glenn Dorsey Signing
And to counteract yesterday's Isaac Sopoaga defection, the 49ers have signed Glenn Dorsey, a younger, cheaper, former high draft choice version. He'll most likely bounce around the line. He visited Santa Clara and signed a contract without leaving. | Glenn Dorsey agrees to deal with 49ers (PFT)
As with any free agent, I'll take them on the team, at the right price. From the top to the bottom, best to worst, if the price is right...get him. So when the signing of Dorsey was announced, the first thing that came to mind, was great, but what's the deal worth. Thankfully we have a great front office. | Dorsey deal is of the short-term variety: two years (Inman)
Mike Sando tackles the question about where Glenn Dorsey will play for the 49ers. He did not have overwhelming success as a 3-4 defensive end for the Chiefs. What will we do with him? What is his role? | Glenn Dorsey and 3-4 questions for 49ers (Sando)

We need help! That's what everyone, me included, have been screaming since the end of the postseason. How about a dissenting opinion? | Dispelling the myth of the 49ers' ailing secondary (BASG)
How do people feel about Nnamdi Asomugha? He's already made a ton of money, so if he's willing to play for cheap on a short deal to prove he's still got something to give (a real possibility), then I wouldn't mind signing him. Those are a lot of ifs. | Four teams in play for Nnamdi (PFT)
