Golden Nuggets: Of fake signings and ... no signings

Friday, March 15th, 2013 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the web.

Paul Frederiksen-US PRESSWIRE

Good morning ladies and gents. The San Francisco 49ers brought in some more players for visits on Thursday, but it was more of the same as no deals got done. The closest we got was a fake rumor regarding the signing of "Luis" Delmas. Twitter absolutely imploded for about three minutes when that first Tweet went out.

I would be happy with Delmas, though, if the money is right. I think that, no matter what happens, the 49ers are going to use one of their top picks by selecting a safety in this draft. They'd be absolutely foolish not to, and strictly speaking, they do only have one need at safety: the spot vacated by Dashon Goldson (whom the Tampa Bay Buccaneers absolutely overpaid. But getting Delmas and a rookie would solve the Donte Whitner problem, as well.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks signed Michael Bennett, who I think is much, much better than Cliff Avril, so that's not good news. I think the Avril signing is dead weight on them and their cap, but Bennett joining them stings just a little bit. Probably shows that Bruce Irvin isn't their answer, either.

Anyway - on to the links for the the day. Enjoy.
