Late Saturday, we learned that Nnamdi Asomugha was leaving the Bay Area to head to New Orleans for a visit with the Saints. Nnamdi came to San Francisco to visit the 49ers on Thursday. The only additional news we heard prior to this departure was that Coach Harbaugh confirmed Nnamdi visited. Other than that, it's been mostly radio silence.
Earlier today, Cam Inman reported that a source indicated to him that the 49ers discussions with Nnamdi did not produce "serious" contract talks. Additionally, none were expected while Nnamdi took care of his other free agent visits.
What exactly does that mean? The 49ers love playing things close to the vest, providing basically the opposite of a team like the Houston Texans, who have been tweeting out all sorts of updates in free agency. Another example would be Colts owner Jim Irsay, who has tweeted out all sorts of stuff, sometimes seeming like drunk tweets.
We can look back to last year's dalliance with Peyton Manning and the 49ers "evaluation" of the quarterback. They enjoy keeping people on their toes, which leaves us left to speculate what exactly is going on.
So, with that, what the heck is going on with Nnamdi?
