Earlier today, the 49ers decision to not franchise free safety Dashon Goldson became final. This does not mean Goldson's time with the 49ers has come to an end. Matt Maiocco has been reporting that the two sides remain a ways apart in negotiations.
From the outside it seems like the deal is unlikely to happen, but all we have heard thus far is speculation. Could a deal get done? There is some hope from both sides about getting a deal done. Dashon Goldson sent out a tweet this evening stating he wanted to figure out something long term with the 49ers. That was followed up by a response from 49ers CEO Jed York, indicating he hoped something could get done.
I'm very thankful I didn't get the franchise tag again but still hopeful this means something long term with the San Francisco 49ers!

@thehawk38 hope we can get something done

These tweets are simple comments from two people, but it's still interesting to follow these discussions. Maybe something gets done, maybe nothing gets done. We'll keep an eye on Twitter in the mean time!
