A little over a month after making homophobic comments during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, Chris Culliver has begun the process of educating himself and rehabilitating his image. The 49ers cornerback shot out a tweet yesterday from his visit with The Trevor Project.

A spokesperson for The Trevor Project stated that Culliver had reached out to them to see what he could do. Culliver paid to have their national education trainer fly in from New York for the session.
While some of this is very much likely meant to help rehabilitate his image, we can only hope this is also a big first step for Culliver in educating himself about the issues. It sounds like he wants to become a volunteer for the group, and become more active with them. We'll see how it plays out. There is something to be said for publicizing what he's doing to benefit the group, but hopefully there are just as many instances of him volunteering without extra publicity.
I suppose not hearing anything could mean nothing, but I'm willing to give Cully the benefit of the doubt. I think he's a young guy that made a stupid statement and is hopefully learning from it, and not just trying to brush it under the rug with a few public appearances. I hope for the best.
