Golden Nuggets: Looking at NFC West rivals; Draft-mania

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web.

Michael Crabtree takes offense to being ranked behind Percy 'headache' Harvin, while Delanie Walker looks on.

Hey, there's a lot of links today. And I smashed my finger at work. How, you ask? Funny story. Being in Australia and working with many Nepali, we play cricket at break with tennis balls. A ball was bouncing my way and I went to grab at the same time someone went to kick it as hard as they could ... BAM, steel toe to the finger tip. Still stings, but should be OK. I'm going to keep typing down and blast through these links.

Division Rivals

A lot of talk lately about the Seahawks' attempts to outpace the 49ers in the NFC West. It should be a fun and exciting year for both teams and their fan bases. Much was written yesterday on the topic. Mike Sando and Matt Williamson discuss the teams in the division and rank them by position group. Today saw the QBs, RBs and WRs ranked. You'll be enraged to know they have Seattle ranked ahead of us in each grouping. Send your hate to them, not me!

Draft News had their experts mock our pick at No. 31. Surprisingly, nobody has us choosing a safety. Defensive line and multiple tight ends (seriously?) are the fare. | 49ers 2013 first-round mock draft (

A lot has been written about the 49ers and the possibility of drafting Cal WR Keenan Allen. He has a lot of qualities that the 49ers like in a WR. In fact, he has a lot of qualities that our two starting WRs share. Do we need to draft in a different mold? Three pieces touched on the subject.

One name that is not being brought up very often in the conversation about the 49ers quest to replace Delanie Walker is Garrett Celek. That's not very fair to the young man with the tight end pedigree. Is he the answer? | Celek made great strides for 49ers at tight end (NBC)

Eric Branch has some notes on the schedule, due to be released on Thursday. He notes that the Super Bowl runner-up is not consistently viewed as a marquee name on the opening weekend of the season. | NFL schedule: For openers, don't count on prime-time date for 49ers (Branch)
