The 49ers will conduct their "Local" pro day this afternoon, but in the meantime, GM Trent Baalke met with the local media to talk about a whole host of topics. My favorite answer had to be his most honest one:

That being said, he took some time to talk about a host of subjects. For example, the team is still interested in Charles Woodson.

It remains to be seen what that means. The 49ers have a little over $1 million in cap space, but they will be finding ways to clear some space between now and the start of the season. I would imagine we'll see at least one or two contract extensions to clear room for the rookies that will be coming on board. That could also provide enough space for Charles Woodson at the veteran minimum. Woodson might want more, but Baalke and the 49ers seem content to wait him out.

Speaking of the safety position:

He also touched on the participation at the 49ers offseason program thus far:

He updated us on Justin Smith's triceps rehab:

He was actually asked about Brandon Jacobs:

It's been a busy offseason for Baalke:

And your random Alex Smith tidbit. I think this was until the trade became official since there was a stretch of time before the start of the league year:

We'll break down some of these stories individually, but for now, this is a little bit of everything from Baalke's press conference.
