The 49ers will conduct their "Local" pro day this afternoon, but in the meantime, GM Trent Baalke met with the local media to talk about a whole host of topics. My favorite answer had to be his most honest one:
An "A" for honesty for #49ers GM Trent Baalke, who told us 8 days before the draft: "You're not going to get a straight answer from me."

That being said, he took some time to talk about a host of subjects. For example, the team is still interested in Charles Woodson.
GM Trent Baalke says 49ers are "still interested" in free agent Charles Woodson.

It remains to be seen what that means. The 49ers have a little over $1 million in cap space, but they will be finding ways to clear some space between now and the start of the season. I would imagine we'll see at least one or two contract extensions to clear room for the rookies that will be coming on board. That could also provide enough space for Charles Woodson at the veteran minimum. Woodson might want more, but Baalke and the 49ers seem content to wait him out.
Speaking of the safety position:
#49ers GM Trent Baalke holding pre-draft presser. Says starting FS may exist in draft. "Do we feel it's a necessity to do that? I say no."

He also touched on the participation at the 49ers offseason program thus far:
Trent Baalke said that all but six or seven players were on hand for the start of the 49ers offseason program on Monday.

Anquan Boldin hasn't joined 49ers offseason program yet, and is handling family's transitition and move to Bay Area, Trent Baalke said

He updated us on Justin Smith's triceps rehab:
Baalke said Justin Smith has "no restrictions" following his February triceps surgery. Is he back in the weight room? "Oh yeah," Baalke said

He was actually asked about Brandon Jacobs:
#49ers Trent Baalke says "there was nothing more" to Brandon Jacobs suspension, such as Twitter outbursts. "I still get texts from Brandon."
— Janie McCauley (@JanieMcCAP) April 17, 2013
More #49ers Trent Baalke on Brandon Jacobs: "There was an understanding on both sides. We wish him nothing but the best."
— Janie McCauley (@JanieMcCAP) April 17, 2013
It's been a busy offseason for Baalke:
49ers GM Trent Baalke did not attend a pro day for the first time. Because of length of season, he felt time was better spent in-house.
— Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoCSN) April 17, 2013
And your random Alex Smith tidbit. I think this was until the trade became official since there was a stretch of time before the start of the league year:
Trent Baalke's media session highlights: Alex Smith worked out in 49ers gear post trade at team HQ & team is still interested in C-Wood.

We'll break down some of these stories individually, but for now, this is a little bit of everything from Baalke's press conference.
