49ers roster, depth chart heading into the 2013 NFL Draft

We are a day away from the 2013 NFL Draft, and I figured it was time to go back through the roster one last time before the team starts adding new players. The 49ers will not select 13 players in the draft, but they will select enough to shake things up. Add in the numerous undrafted free agents they will sign, and the depth chart will be infused with all sorts of names.

As we've done before, this is a quasi-depth chart, quasi-bubble watch type of deal. It does not reflect the depth chart as it would look if released, but rather is meant to help us sort through the eventual 53-man roster. A good example is Alex Boone. Right now, he would be listed as starting right guard, but also as backup left tackle and right tackle.

Right now, we have 64 players on the roster, and I have listed 37 players as locks. In our last look at the roster, I had 37 listed as well, but there are a couple changes. Ian Williams has been moved from strong bubble to lock, and Trenton Robinson was moved from lock to strong bubble.

I meant to move Ian Williams from strong bubble to lock after his contract extension, but forgot to. The nose tackle situation is fluid, but I think it is reasonable to list Williams as a lock given the two-year contract extension he signed. It was not a huge deal, but it shows me the team has some measure of confidence in Williams.

Robinson spent most of last season inactive, and had a chance to learn behind Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner. We don't really know what the 49ers think of him at this point, and given that he was a sixth round pick last season, he will likely have plenty of work to do in training camp.
