The 49ers 2013 NFL Draft is officially complete. The 49ers used their final selection, a seventh round compensatory pick, to select Rutgers defensive back Marcus Cooper. In doing some quick research, it appears Cooper stands 6'2'', and weighs 192 pounds. While not huge, he would quickly become equal to Nnamdi Asomugha as the tallest defensive back on the roster.
I found a brief article in which it sounds like he had a strong Pro Day. He ran 4.43 and 4.47 40s, and had the best showing in the vertical and broad jumps. I did find a quick highlight video put together by his agents at BAC Sports Management.
He is a guy we'll have to do some more research on in the coming days. Cooper is listed as a defensive back, so I'm not sure how much time he'll get at cornerback vs. safety. The cornerback depth chart is pretty full right now. The safety depth chart has a lot of bodies, but there could be some opportunities if he can show some ability in training camp.
