2013 NFL Draft rankings: Re-ranking the wide receivers

A lot has changed since our last position rankings in January. All-Star game bowls have been played, and the combine and pro days are complete. There will be some private workouts, but for the most part, draft rankings as we view them are settling in. That all leads to players falling and rising in my latest top ten.

Yesterday, Nick ranked the quarterbacks. Today I'll rank the wide receivers. You can go back and check out my January rankings. Here is my updated top ten at receiver:

1. Tavon Austin 5'8" 174 lbs - West Virginia- Stock: Rising Projection: Top 15-20

The updated list features two new comers in Ryan Swope and Stedman Bailey. We also have a new number one ranking with Tavon Austin.

Although I do feel Cordarrelle Patterson will ultimately be selected as the first receiver off the board, Austin is the more polished receiver right now and my number one. Austin used the combine and his pro day to his advantage, displaying all of his skills. I have been very impressed with him and find Austin to be a great route runner with solid hands and great speed (4.34 forty). I would be surprised to see Austin make it out of the top twenty picks. As we've discussed before, Austin is scheduled to visit with the 49ers.

Austin's teammate, Stedman Bailey, cracked the top ten in this edition. Bailey led the nation in catches that were either a touchdown or first down, finishing with 72. He had 114 catches in all.

Ryan Swope makes it in at ten, after posting a 4.34 forty at the combine, which was better than expected. Swope does drop some balls, but he could turn into a dangerous slot receiver. He is somewhere in the middle of Tavon Austin and Marquise Goodwin talent-wise.

Keenan Allen dropped down a few notches in these rankings. Allen did not participate at the combine or his pro day. His strained knee ligament injury appears to have lingering effects. This is hurting his draft stock, and we will not know how much it does until draft day. Allen plans to have a workout before the draft.

Robert Woods moved up in these rankings. Woods had a down season in 2012, but he turned the negative thoughts of scouts around at the combine, reminding them of his stellar player in years past for the Trojans. Woods isn't a flashy receiver, but he knows how to get open and can make big plays. Jim Harbaugh met with Woods at the combine.

With the addition to Anquan Boldin, would the 49ers even be interested in one of the top ten receivers?
