49ers schedule 2013: Super Bowl favorite likely to be favored most weeks

The folks at Bovada.lv updated their Super Bowl odds yesterday, and the 49ers have climbed into the favorite posiiton, sitting at 6/1. Denver is behind them at 15/2, the Patriots are 8/1 and the Seahawks are 9/1. Previously, the 49ers had been even with the Broncos at 7/1.

That got me thinking about the 49ers 2013 schedule and the spread. The day after the 2013 schedule came out, the 49ers were listed as 4-1/2 point favorites against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. In looking at the rest of the schedule, it is safe to say the 49ers are going to be favored in a lot of games. Obviously something could go wrong, the 49ers struggle and they end up as an underdog as the season moves along. However, if things go the way we hope, they should be a favorite much of the time.

A quick scan of the schedule reveals one game that I am pretty sure they would be underdogs at this point, and that is their Week 2 Sunday Night Football game at Seattle. The 49ers won the division, but the last time these two teams faced off, the Seahawks took San Francisco behind the woodshed. Even if the Seahawks were upset Week 1 in Carolina, I still think they would be a slim favorite.

Looking through the rest of the schedule, the only other two that stand out are the back-to-back games against New Orleans and Washington in November. Right now, I'd install the 49ers as a slim favorite over the Saints, and a little bit more over the Redskins (assuming RGIII would be healthy).
