Golden Nuggets: Happy birthday to Frank Gore

Tuesday, May 14, 2013 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the web.

USA TODAY Sports

Oh no, you guys ... we all have reason to be afraid. Frank Gore is just about to turn 30 and when that happens, he's likely to collapse into a big ol' pile of useless running back. That's just how it goes in the NFL, right? Nah, I don't think so, and even if Gore being exceedingly productive in 2013 isn't the most surefire thing to hang your hat on, at least Gore fits the bill for a player keen on proving folks wrong.

Personally, I expect Gore to get another 1,000-yard season next year, and I expect him to do well the year after that, as well. I'm not sure how much tread is left on the tires from a longevity standpoint but I don't think Gore will ever truly hit that wall. I just think that one day, he'll be done playing football and that's that.

Until that time comes, he's among my favorite current 49ers. Let's get on to your links.
