One day after the 49ers announced Quinton Patton signed his rookie contract, Adam Caplan is reporting the 49ers have signed second round pick Tank Carradine. The 49ers have now signed seven of their 2013 draft picks. The remaining players to be signed include first round pick Eric Reid, second round pick Vance McDonald, third round pick Corey Lemonier and fourth round pick Marcus Lattimore.
Carradine is not yet taking part in practice as he continues his own ACL rehab. Once completely healthy, Carradine will compete for defensive end playing time, and hopefully can emerge down the road as Justin Smith's replacement.
Carradine joins notables like Kyle Williams and Mario Manningham in recovering from knee injuries. Carradine tore his ACL the day before Williams tore his, so it will be interesting to compare the two recoveries. Williams got a green light from doctors recently, and is expected back for the start of training camp.
Carradine's rookie deal is likely to total approximately $4.9 million, with a signing bonus just north of $1.9 million. Like the 49ers other non-first round picks, his deal is four years. When the 49ers eventually get Eric Reid's contract done, it will be four years with a fifth year option.
