Mario Manningham injury update: 49ers WR running, cutting

Mario Manningham provides an update on his current rehab process.

49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham made an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and while discussing Michael Crabtree's injury, Manningham provided an update on his own recovery. Cam Inman has the details of the interview (I can't find the audio of it), but I wanted to pull out a small portion about Manningham's rehab process:

"I have started and running cutting and doing little things," Manningham said. "When you have knee injuries, you can't really take any time off. Every time I think about it, I'm trying to do something with my knee.

"I'm not rushing it but I am going hard on my knee."

Manningham made an appearance on Jim Rome's show earlier this month, during which he said he was hoping to be back "around" training camp. The general belief has been that he will start camp on the PUP list. Whether he will get back in time for the start of the regular season is still up in the air.

As it currently stands, the 49ers wide receivers include Manningham, Anquan Boldin, Kyle Williams, A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton, Ricardo Lockette, Chad Hall, Joe Hastings, Marlon Moore and Chuck Jacobs. MarQueis Gray is listed by the 49ers as a tight end, but he played some wide receiver in college, so he could very well get some time out there.
