Jim Harbaugh talks Michael Crabtree replacements, Indy 500 pace car and more

Jim Harbaugh was on the radio Friday, and had plenty to say about the 49ers plans for replacing wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh went on 95.7 The Game with O'Connell and Steinmetz, and of course had plenty to talk about. He opened with some discussion about his love of open-wheel racing, and driving the pace car for the Indianapolis 500. Naturally though he went into plenty of 49ers topics. You can listen to the entire interview below.

The most intriguing comments came when the discussion got around to wide receiver Michael Crabtree. He was asked about who would fill the void, and he said the team would look at A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Ricardo Lockette at the same position to compete. He said that opposite them would be Anquan Boldin, Chad Hall, Marlon Moore and Joe Hastings. He made a specific mention of Moore showing some good things.

He did mention Kyle Williams and Mario Manningham, but acknowledged they would eventually be coming back. He specifically said Manningham would probably be back a little later than Williams.

So, that gives us at least a little more insight into how this thing might play out. The 49ers could still sign a veteran, but otherwise the team is looking for serious production from that trio of young receivers. It is not a surprising bit of news, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Which of those three do you think emerges from the competition with the starting flanker role?
