49ers draft picks: Marcus Lattimore signs his rookie contract

The 49ers signed another draft pick, inking running back Marcus Lattimore to a four-year deal.

I was out for a little happy hour good times, so this is a little delayed. The 49ers announced earlier this afternoon that they have come to terms on a four-year contract with fourth-round pick Marcus Lattimore. The only remaining unsigned draft picks are first-round pick Eric Reid and third-round pick Corey Lemonier.

Although signed to a four-year deal, this first year will likely be a bit of a wash. Lattimore is continuing his recovery from his brutal knee injury, and will likely start the season on the non-football injury list. The 49ers can stash him there all season so he is back at 100% for 2014 with a year of learning the playbook under his belt. The 49ers selection of Lattimore was very much a long-term play. Once he is healthy, the 49ers will have quite a few running backs to choose from as they look to a future that will eventually move past Frank Gore.
