49ers beat writer Matt Barrows is reporting left guard Mike Iupati underwent a procedure on shoulder, and will not take part in upcoming OTAs. According to Barrows, the injury is not believed to be severe, and Iupati is expected to be back in time for training camp.
The 49ers dealt with a host of shoulder injuries last season. Iupati was on the injury report for much of December, as well as the playoffs with a shoulder issue. He joined several other players with shoulder injuries. We still don't know what led to such a large number of the injuries, but it does seem odd to have had so many shoulder injuries.
One does have to wonder if this helped make the decision to sign Adam Snyder. The team has quite a few guards, although many of them are relatively young. Maybe they wanted to bring in a veteran with their starting left guard sidelined for now?
