Ah, finally, a ton of news. Minicamp is underway. Reports are good. Nobody was hurt, which is always a worry. Tarell Brown showed up, as rumored, despite his potential looming contract dispute. The big news out of minicamp was the stellar play of A.J. Jenkins. We've been waiting a long time for this. By all accounts he was an absolute standout. It's minicamp, but it's better than nothing and better late than never. Coach spoke about Jenkins, Seattle's drug habits and more. A lot to cover, so get into it.

But first....a sad day at the stadium construction site. It's only fitting to lead off with this out of respect.

Tragedy at Stadium Site

It was a sad day yesterday. A worker was killed at the stadium site in Santa Clara. Obviously, some things are more important than football, and one of those is life. There's not much more I can say about it. Here's a few links.

AJ Jenkins News (Thank heaven!!!)

This is both a Harbaugh link and a Jenkins link. I think I'll put it under Jenkins. Coach notes the opportunity that he has here. It would be so good for everyone involved if he seized the role by the horns (I like that play on words). According to everyone, it's been his best week as a 49er. Moving on from last year, that's the best we could hope to hear at this point. | Jim Harbaugh: AJ Jenkins has a 'great window of opportunity' (BASG)

Not only is Coach Harbaugh getting on the AJ bandwagon...it looks like OC Greg Roman is as well. All aboard. OK, before you jump on, I just want to have it noted that Harbaugh singing your praise in public is akin to Michael Corleone's kiss of death in Godfather II. You are getting axed AJ....run!!!! | Minicamp notes: Harbaugh, Roman singing A.J. Jenkins' praises (Barrows)

This link has some good video embedded from the minicamp with quotes from Harbaugh, Roman and a bunch of the players. The wide receiver competition takes center stage. | A.J. Jenkins seizes opportunity (49ers.com)

Coach Harbaugh, in his words

You know who doesn't like cheaters? Coach. He likes Judge Judy, who smites cheaters with her gavel of justice. You know who cheats? ... | Jim Harbaugh on Seattle Seahawks' PED usage: ‘If you cheat to win, then you've already lost' (BASG)

Harbaugh also had some praise for our young quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. His rise to stardom was so fast, we almost forget how much pressure he was under and how well he handled it. | Kaepernick's ability to thrive under pressure hailed by Harbaugh (Inman)

More Minicamp Notes

One of the big things that people will be watching in this minicamp is the wideouts. Ricardo Lockette, Quinton Patton and the aforementioned Jenkins will all have their chance to stake the claim to the No. 2 wide receiver position. | Niners Minicamp May Reveal Which Receivers Will Emerge (NBC)

Matt Maiocco gives us the position battles to watch at minicamp. Aside from wide receiver, cornerback will be under scrutiny. It looks like Tarell Brown is cemented in the top 2, having been the most consistent performer last year. After that, it's anyone's guess. | Competition battles highlight 49ers minicamp (Maiocco)

Cam Inman notes that most of the receiver looked good during day one. Scott Tolzien, not so good. With B.J. Daniels, pushing him for the No. 3 spot at quarterback, holding the edge in the all important 'versatility' area, it would behove for him to show off his quarterbacking skills. | Practice report: Nice day by receivers, not so much for Tolzien, attendance almost perfect (Inman)

Matt Barrows has some notes. He mentions some of the same. There is a tidbit about Daniel Kilgore getting some reps at first team center. Is there a position battle getting hotter than we expected? | 49ers minicamp: Nice snag by Jenkins, who may be in the lead for No. 2 wideout (Barrows)
