Colin Kaepernick to throw out first pitch at Giants-Marlins game Friday night

In case you missed it on Twitter, Colin Kaepernick, the Giants and the 49ers all announced that the 49ers quarterback will throw out the first pitch at tonight's Giants-Marlins game. It's been a busy offseason for Kaepernick, and this is sort of the icing on the cake for the former high school pitcher.

Of course, it wouldn't be 49ers news if there wasn't a Seahawks angle to it. Earlier this month, Russell Wilson threw out a first pitch at a Mariners game. There's some Vine video of Wilson practicing in the Seahawks locker room. Additionally, MLB has some video from Wilson's first pitch.

Wilson and Kap have a lot in common as both played baseball and were drafted. Kap was strictly a high school baseball player. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 43rd round of the 2009 MLB draft, even having not played for two years. However, Kap told them he only wanted to play football. Wilson, on the other hand, played baseball at NC State. He was drafted out of high school in 2007, but went to college as well. However, he was drafted again in 2010, and played two summers in the Rockies minor league system before fully committing to football.

Wilson was apparently clocked at 75mph on his first pitch. I think Matt Barrows summed things up best:

In case you missed it, the 49ers and Seahawks just plain don't like each other, so Kaepernick has to - absolutely must - top 75 mph or else all hope is lost.

We'll see how Kap works out on his first pitch. He sent out this tweet:
