It's been pretty slow around these parts. Beat writers are having a hard time getting anything of value up and out the door so the Nuggets have been slow. Now This Week in Niners Nation is going to be slow. I've got a busy weekend on my plate and am thus forced to give you a quickie. Unfortunate, but that's life. Better now than in the middle of the season, right?
90-in-90
Perrish Cox made the team last year. I hardly noticed him. Did you? With all five cornerbacks from last year's squad returning and Nnamdi Asomugha being added to the mix, it's safe to assume one of them won't make the team. I'd say Tarell Brown, Carlos Rogers and Chris Culliver are safe. Then you've got Asomugha, Cox and Tramaine Brock battling for the last two spots. | 49ers Roster, 90-in-90 breakdowns: Perrish Cox (Fooch)
Another guy in roster limbo who was on the team last season is Demarcus Dobbs. Cornelius Carradine is a threat to his rosterness, but with 'Tank' possibly starting the season on the PUP list, or at the very least, being unable to impress in training camp, Dobbs has the in that he needs. | 49ers Roster, 90-in-90 breakdowns: Demarcus Dobbs (Fooch)
Marlon Moore has been impressive so far this offseason. With the top of the wide receiver depth chart opening up, it's going to be a real dog fight to see who makes the roster. Moore has every chance to be one of the guys at the start of the year. The bigger question is who will be on the roster if / when Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham return from injury. | 49ers Roster, 90-in-90 breakdowns: Marlon Moore (Fooch)
Another question many of us want to have answered is in regards to what role Glenn Dorsey will play. The former high draft pick was much maligned during his time in Kansas City. Hey, Alex Smith was pretty maligned in San Francisco until the end. Hopefully both of them continue their growth for their respective new teams. | 49ers Roster, 90-in-90 breakdowns: Glenn Dorsey (Chiamardas)
Corey Lemonier should have every opportunity to make our roster in 2013. There's some stiff competition at outside linebacker. Parys Haralson was the starter in 2011 before missing last season with an injury. Cam Johnson and Darius Fleming were both brought in to compete last year before being injured. Special teams ace Dan Skuta has been learning the position, as well. | 49ers Roster, 90-in-90 breakdowns: Corey Lemonier (Tre)
The aforementioned Nnamdi is one of the players who people are most conflicted about. Some think he's a lock. Others think he's lost a step and could be in trouble. I'm in the middle and unsure. Living in Australia I don't get a lot of NFL coverage and go months without seeing or hearing about other teams' players. He definitely had two bad years in Philadelphia. He's definitely turning 32 soon. Without playing special teams, I think he has to win one of the top three CB spots to make the roster. What do you think? | 49ers Roster, 90-in-90 breakdowns: Nnamdi Asomugha (Brady)
Other News
Woodsy and I held our weekly Twitter Q&A session with predictable results. Questions were asked, answers were given. For being the slow time of the year, participation is good. I wonder what will happen when we actually have something to talk about? Frank Gore and Justin Smith's Hall of Fame credentials are just one of the topics. | Niners Nation #Channel49 Twitter Q&A Mailbag, Vol. 15: Gameday Rituals, 49ers going to the Hall of Fame, and more (Woods & Malone)
A good topic to discuss right now is rookie snap counts. Who's going to see the field, and how much? It's assumed that Eric Reid snags the starting free safety position. What about Vance McDonald? Delanie Walker saw the field a lot last season. Before Michael Crabtree's injury, I assumed that some of the snaps could be made up with extra receiver sets. Unlikely now. | How many snaps will 49ers tight end Vance McDonald play in his rookie season? (Brady)
FanPosts
Brother Girth has the top spot this week with his work discussing Colin Kaepernick's statistical projections. There is no correlation between 4,000 yard seasons and success. Only three quarterbacks have thrown for 4k and won a Super Bowl in the same year. Can you name them without reading the post? | Will Colin Kaepernick throw for 4000 yards this year? Let's hope not. (Brother Girth)
The other FanPost I'll single out this week is a list of the most overrated players on each team. Who do you think they give as the 49ers' most overrated? Who would you put up there? | The Most Overrated Player On Every Team (Jerryriceisthebest)
