Jim Harbaugh is a great head coach, and part of the reason for that might be his eclectic interests. He is intrigued by everything from military history to Rockford Files to Judge Judy to auto-racing. Some of the interests are a bit out there, but I have a hunch most if not all of them reflect his personality and coaching style. We already know about Judge Judy and Coach Harbaugh's thoughts on honesty.
Sometimes though, Coach Harbaugh can be a bit out there. That's not a bad thing, but it's just the way it is. We learned a bit more about this yesterday in his press conference. During the Judge Judy taping he attended, the primary case involved a situation of roommates with benefits. Coach Harbaugh was asked about the outcome of the case:
"I've never seen her adjudicate one improperly. She is so smart. She is so good. I can sit there and watch those cases all day. I really could. It's fun to watch just somebody that does their job well. And I could watch Judge Judy do cases all day. I could watch people play football that do their job really well. People that direct traffic. I get a real kick out of watching people that are good at directing traffic do it. I've done it for hours, watched it. But, I like football the most. But, Judge Judy's right up there. I love watching her do her job. She's just the best."
So, basically, Jim Harbaugh enjoys watching cops who can do a good job directing traffic. I don't even know what to say, other than I can totally picture Jim Harbaugh sitting on a bus bench near a busy intersection and observing traffic cops directing traffic.
When I first read this, it got me thinking that we need to come up with a rundown of all the random things we know about Jim Harbaugh. It reads different than the "Chuck Norris facts", and yet I think it could be that much more awesome. For example, we know he is the No. 1 fan of Rockford Files. He loves Judge Judy. He gets a kick out of watching people that are good at directing traffic. He has made appearances on Saved by the Bell and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. He's a huge fan of Willie Mays.
What others do people recall? I figure we can come up with a real Jim Harbaugh Facts post that beats out anything people have to make up about Chuck Norris!
