Golden Nuggets: 49ers add Colton Schmidt to Roster

Still not a lot of news going on around these parts. There was a personnel move, not a personal move, as I oft want to type. The 49ers added punter / kickoff specialist Colton Schmidt, from UC Davis. While he'd be a long, long, LONG shot to unseat either Phil Dawson or Andy Lee, he will provide some relief for the two during the preseason. He is referred to as 'Legatron' in the title of the Examiner article, but I believe the Rams' Greg Zuerlein already uses that nom de guerre.

And we have a few camp position previews. The OLB position has some very interesting competition for the backup roles. With Ahmad Brooks possibly facing a suspension, whomever plays the best in preseason should get some early starts. Not a bad reward!
