Golden Nuggets: Eric Wright trade voided

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

USA TODAY Sports

So the trade for cornerback Eric Wright to the San Francisco 49ers was voided thanks to a "failed physical." I'm not sure I believe it was a physical that he failed, but it is what it is. On one hand, I agree with the majority in thinking that getting a guy like Wright didn't seem like something the 49ers would do, but on the other hand, Wright is a very good cornerback and very likely would have pushed Carlos Rogers out the door.

At this point, I firmly believe Nnamdi Asomugha locks down one of the starting roles, and if Tarell Brown keeps up his play from last season, that still makes Rogers the odd man out. I'm a big fan of what Rogers has been able to do since donning the red and gold, but he's just about hit that wall and a rapid decline seems right around the corner.
