49ers training camp practice schedule: Day 1

We break down the practice and media schedule for the first day of practice at 49ers training camp.

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE

The San Francisco 49ers will get their first full-team practice of training camp underway at 2:30 p.m. PT today, which means practice reports and plenty of media availability. You can view the full rundown of the practice and coaches media schedule, but we've got a few more specifics on some of the players available.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh will speak in the media tent, and there is general player availability. However, the team will also have QB Colin Kaepernick and DT Justin Smith available in the media tent after Coach Harbaugh. That trio will be available starting at 11:30 a.m.

The 49ers will hit the practice field at 2:30 p.m., and there are some limitations on the work, per the collective bargaining agreement. According to the CBA:

The first day of a Club's preseason training camp shall be limited to physical examinations, meetings, and classroom instruction; no on-field activities shall be permitted other than running and conditioning. No contact shall be permitted and no pads shall be worn during the second and third days of Preseason Training Camp. The reafter, two-a-day practices shall be permitted...

The 49ers had rookies report on Friday and veterans on Wednesday. We heard some talk about 49ers rookies getting in some full contact on Monday and Tuesday. I initially thought the day one, two and three rules applied to yesterday, today and tomorrow, but now I'm not really sure what it all means. We'll keep an eye on Twitter to see what the media is reporting from practice as far as pads and contact.
