49ers to bring Austin Collie in for another workout

The 49ers are bringing Austin Collie in for a workout. We look at some of the fallout from such a decision.

While it would be nice to discuss some topics other than the 49ers wide receiver position, the news keeps on rolling. Matt Maiocco and Matt Barrows are both reporting that the 49ers are bringing wide receiver Austin Collie in for a second workout later today. Collie came in for a workout back in mid-June. Collie would be joining Laurent Robinson who is also working out for the 49ers today.

The 49ers have been trying to figure out solutions at wide receiver, and apparently they are still considering rolling the dice on one or both receivers. Both have dealt with head injuries in their careers, but they seem set on continuing forward. The 49ers have access to some of the best doctors in the world at Stanford, so I would imagine they will be thorough in investigating each player's health. 49ers owner John York (father of Jed York) is the chairman of the NFL's Health & Safety Committee, so I would like to think the 49ers are taking this seriously.

I remain a bit skeptical about this given the concussion history of each player, but at the end of the day, it's up to the 49ers and the players to figure out what to do. I know some fans are not concerned about it, but I am not comfortable with this.
