49ers vs. Chiefs weather report: Checking Phil Dawson's three favorite sites

The San Francisco 49ers head on the road for their second preseason game of the season. We take a look at the weather for 49ers-Chiefs with the help of Phil Dawson's three favorite websites.

Earlier this month, 49ers kicker Phil Dawson met with the media and discussed the weather issues that come with kicking at Candlestick Park. The swirling winds at the Stick are frequently discussed, and a significant factor for special teams.

During his discussion, Dawson mentioned that he tracks three different sites in his weekly weather assessment:, and The weather is always a factor, so I thought each week we would take a look at the upcoming weather forecast with the help of Dawson's three favorite sites.

The 49ers are playing in Kansas City this weekend, at Arrowhead Stadium, and it appears weather should not be too much of an issue. The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m local time, and it should be a great evening. It is expected to be in the mid-70s with winds under 10 miles per hour, and no more than partly cloudy skies.

Phil Dawson was 2 of 3 on field goals last week, hitting from 32 and 38 yards, and missing from 44 yards right before the half. The weather was not a significant issue last weekend, so hopefully he's just getting some of those misses out of the way early.

The 49ers are still trying to sort through their punt and kick returners. LaMichael James seemed to be the favorite heading into the preseason, but Perrish Cox looked sharp as a returner last week. The 49ers are giving several players opportunities in the return game, so we'll see what this week brings. James is probably still the leading candidate, but another strong performance form Perrish Cox could change that up.
