49ers fourth round pick wide receiver Quinton Patton has apparently taken a big step forward in his progress back from a finger injury. According to the beat writers, Patton is on the field in uniform, and is using both hands to catch passes. Patton has been wearing a blue non-contact jersey throughout training camp, although he has been running routes, and catching passes with one hand.
As Gregory Lee posted, it's all about visualizing success. Earlier this week, Jim Harbaugh described the value of gaining muscle memory as he ran routes. And of course, it shows the drive that you just know Coach Harbaugh loves. Patton would appear to want it pretty badly.
There is no word yet on whether or not Patton will play in Friday's game, but he would seem to be on the verge of being ready. Once he does get on the field, it will be interesting to see how it impacts the wide receiver competition behind Anquan Boldin.
