49ers QB Scott Tolzien "working through something" since Chiefs game

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh met with the media, and provided some interesting information on QB Scott Tolzien.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh met with the media Friday afternoon, and he had a chance to provide some information about the team's quarterback competition. Coach Harbaugh said that he anticipated all five quarterbacks would get work on Sunday against the Vikings, but he did mention that Scott Tolzien was "working through something" and would be evaluated today at practice.

Harbaugh said that Tolzien had been "working through something" since the Chiefs game, and as we know, that is generally his code for injury. The 49ers signed Seneca Wallace yesterday, which now leaves me to wonder how connected that decision was to Tolzien's injury, and how connected it was to generally poor performances by Tolzien and Colt McCoy the first two preseason games.

The 49ers have two games left to sort through their backup quarterback situation. Colin Kaepernick will play on Sunday, but it would be surprising if it was more than a couple series. Jim Harbaugh said he approaches the preseason games the same. This would seem to indicate fairly limited snaps for Kaepernick and some of the key members of the first team offense. We'll see what Sunday brings!
