49ers vs. Vikings preseason 2013: Sunday Night Football before the first roster cuts

We're back for Week 3 of the 49ers preseason schedule. For many teams, the third game is when they roll out their starters through the first half, and sometimes into the third quarter. For the 49ers, Colin Kaepernick is likely to get a few snaps, and not a whole lot more. The offensive line might get some more work, but for the most part, the 49ers do not seem to follow the normal path when it comes to preseason snaps.

The 49ers know what most of their starters can do, so there is some value in getting the reserves in against the Vikings starters. Whether that be Nnamdi Asomugha, Tramaine Brock and Perrish Cox at cornerback, or Chad Hall, Austin Collie, Jon Baldwin and the rest of the wide receiver contingent, the 49ers have some things to figure out down the roster. This provides a great opportunity for those reserves.
