The 49ers made some cuts today. Among them were Lawrence Okoye, one of the stories of training camp. It was always going to be a long shot for him to make the roster. Football is about technique and having no previous experience is a big handicap. I'd still like to see him develop and am curious to see if he'll get moved to the practice squad. Most of the rest of the 'trimming down' was actually a shifting of players to various injury lists.
I'm going to be quick. So, enjoy the links.
Cuts / Injury Lists

Two names that popped up frequently before training camp began as possible salary cap cuts were Carlos Rogers and Jonathan Goodwin. Are they in trouble? | Could Jonathan Goodwin or Carlos Rogers be vulnerable? (SF Gate)

Eric Reid
BASG discusses Eric Reid's relationship with Donte Whitner and his rise to the starting free safety job. We give Whitner a lot of grief around here, mostly for his shortcomings in coverage. He is a good teammate, a leader and should be a great mentor for Eric Reid. | How new starting safety (and early riser) Eric Reid rose to Donte Whitner's challenge (BASG)

Asomugha Winning
It looks like Nnamdi Asomugha is pulling into the lead for CB3. He's done everything we could have expected of him and more. I'm very happy with his play and he's one of the reasons I feel better about the secondary. | Fangio: Injury to Brock allowed Asomugha to ‘move ahead' in No. 3 CB race (BASG)
Parys Haralson
Two things to take away from the Haralson trade. One, Corey Lemonier has looked like someone who has demanded playing time with what he's brought to the table. Two, I don't think Baalke could have gotten anything more for Haralson. I know some weren't happy with it, but we're about to see the 40 or 50 best outside linebackers available, one of which would have been named Parys Haralson, hit the market allowing the Saints to have their pick. | With Parys Haralson Gone, Door is Open for 49ers' Corey Lemonier (NBC)

I know some of you weren't happy with the draft haul in the Haralson trade, but look, Baalke is accumulating capital. | 49ers already have 11 picks in 2014 draft (Barrows)
No matter what Joe Looney says, I don't like the block on Kevin Williams. I appreciate that he tried to find Williams after the game and apologize to him and it looks like Williams could be ready for Week 1. | Joe Looney: Kevin Williams hit wasn't meant to injure (NFL.com)

Eric Wright has been sighted. I'm regretting thinking he could make an impact this season. I did think that at the time of the trade, not once he was failed, cut and re-signed. Not a bad insurance policy, though. | CB Eric Wright reports to 49ers; LB Willis practices (Branch)
